Three held over bribery

The suspects at Moroto Central Police Station

Three suspects are being held by the Police in Moroto district for attempting to bribe the officer in charge of crime desk at Moroto Central Police Station.

The trio attempted to bribe Thomas Ochen Opiga to have robbery charges against their colleagues dropped.

Police has identified the suspects as Monday Nabiro from Nawapanda, George Kakaire a resident of Idudi and John Lugwana who hails from Bugembe in Jinja district.

Opiga said he ordered for the arrest of the suspects after Kakaire offered sh1m to destroy the robbery charges on the invasion of a Chinese Camp.

However, the suspects have denied the matter saying that they found the money in the office.

Opiga said the suspects will be charged of bribery.
