Andersen Global expands into Uganda

Andersen Global, which specialises in tax, valuation, financial advisory and consulting services, has entered into a collaboration agreement with Ligomarc Advocates, a Ugandan financial and corporate tax and legal firm.

Observers say the move will boost the capacity of the legal fraternity to play a leading role in the development of Uganda's extractives sector.

Ligomarc, which is led by managing partner Kabiito Karamagi, is Andersen Global's fourth partner in Africa. 

A statement from Andersen Global points out that the addition of Ligomarc Advocates as a collaborating firm continues the organisation's expansion in Africa.

"Integrity, excellence and putting the client at the centre have always been of paramount importance to us, and our collaboration with Andersen Global will allow us to ensure our clients receive the best-in-class service internationally," Karamagi said.

"The team at Andersen shares our values of outstanding, seamless client service and independence—this is a natural fit," he added.

Ligomarc Advocates was founded as a sole practice over 15 years ago by Ruth Sebatindira, but later became a partnership when Karamagi joined. The partnership subsequently expanded to include Joshua Odoc Ogwal and Olivia Kyarimpa Matovu.

The agreement will boost Ligomarcs' work in handling matters related to insolvency, banking, corporate governance, energy and mining, insurance, and regulatory compliance, as well as tax advisory services, such as transfer pricing, reorganisation and tax-related controversies.

Global chairman and Andersen Tax LLC CEO Mark Vorsatz said: "This collaboration positions us to provide even more comprehensive solutions to clients and expanded coverage in Africa, particularly in the eastern region.

Andersen Global, which was established in 2013 by US member firm Andersen Tax LLC, is an international association of legally separate, independent member firms comprised of tax and legal professionals around the world.

Andersen Global now has more than 2,500 professionals worldwide in over 78 locations.
