Police arrest two over murder

According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi Police spokesperson, since the demise of Bangomwabo, three suspects in the incident have been on the run until Monday morning when two of them were netted.

Two people have been arrested by Rubanda Police over the alleged murder of a 57 year old David Bangomwabo. The deceased who was a resident of Gwakamu Village,Kara Parish in Rubanda District  was murdered on November 25.


According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi Police spokesperson, since the demise of Bangomwabo, three suspects in the incident have been on the run until Monday morning when two of them were netted.


"The two are; the nephew one Enock Kweli Kweli 30 years and Vian Byarugaba 21 years both of the same above address," said Maate.


He also told New Vision that the arrest came following a tip by the locals because of public-police cordial relationship.


"They are going to appear before the court of law in Kabale after inquiries are complete. The third suspect still at large and efforts to have him arrested are ongoing," he noted.

Bangomwabo was hacked at around 8pm in Gwakamu Village, a few meters from his home and according to Police the deceased is said to have been in a land wrangle with Kweli Kweli and Byarugaba and one identified as Enock.


Maate said: "It's alleged that while he was from grazing together with a 7-year old boy, Bangomwabo met the suspects who walleyed him, cut him in the neck and died instantly. The boy ran home and informed people who after confirming the incident, immediately reported to police".
