Demonstrating taxi operators in Kampala on Wednesday stopped President Yoweri Museveni at Clock Tower and asked him to intervene accusing city authorities of exorbitant charges.

The drivers were demonstrating what they term as excess daily levies imposed on them by Kampala Capital City Authority.

"I urge them to be patient. Their concerns will be addressed. I personally do not support the idea of daily levies. If the rich are taxed at the end of the month, why should the poor be taxed daily? I will return and we address their concerns," the President tweeted.
