She urged leaders to sensitize members of the public about the dangers of encroaching on the road reserves because they risk being evicted or arrested.

The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) will evict road-reserve encroachers along the Iganga -Malaba highway starting January 2018.

Speaking during a budget conference held at Iganga district headquarters on November 20, the Regional Supervisor of UNRA, Eva Ajok said that sensitization meetings have been conducted in several trading centers along the main highway to ensure that all the people are aware of the impending exercise.

She urged leaders to sensitize members of the public about the dangers of encroaching on the road reserves because they risk being evicted or arrested.

Ajok further urged people occupying the road reserves to carry out self-evictions before they are forced off.

She also advised the public to seek permission from UNRA before setting up any structure within the road reserve to avoid subsequent inconveniences.
