Children's Day: Kids take over Vision Group

Nov 20, 2017

The day established in 1954, is celebrated on November 20 each year to promote international togetherness and awareness among children worldwide

As Ugandan children joined the entire world in celebration of Universal Children's Day 2017, school children from different parts of the country were thrilled by their visit to Vision Group.

United Nations Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF) under the theme ‘Kids Take Over', had the children take over grown-up roles in the media to voice support for children in need.

They co-presented and aired their views on Vision Groups platforms; Bukedde TV, Urban TV, XFM and Bukedde radios.

Most of them highlighted issues facing children such as child labour and domestic violence among others.

"Vision Group is a nice place with good customer care and I will never forget the today's celebration and the visit in particular. I had never gotten a chance like this where I can interact with presenters," stated Mildred Najjemba, a student at Buganda Road Primary School.

"I want children to have freedom. These days when you talk about freedom, you are spoiling us. We should be left to visit our friends the ways grown up ones are left to go out and move around" Najjemba said shortly after appearing on Urban TV's ‘Urban Today' program hosted by Deedan and Mackenzie.
