Over 2,000 graduate from KIU

A total of 2,415 students have graduated at Kampala International University (KIU) with PhDs, masters, bachelor degrees and diploma awards in different courses.

32 graduated with first class degrees and were awarded certificates of appreciation for their excellent performances in their respective courses at the university main campus in Kansanga, a Kampala suburb.

Hajji Hassan Bassajjabalaba, the university proprietor and chairperson Board of Trustees, it was time to pay tribute to the six fallen students who perished in a fatal accident at Kakoge village along the Kampala-Gulu highway in Nakasongola district recently.

The deceased include Emmanuel Shema, Fred Mutabazi and Samson Mukwengyeri who were pursuing bachelors' degree of Arts with Education, Frank Ngalambe and Vicent Kwizera of Business Administration and Fred Kasasira of Tourism and Hotel.

He revealed to parents that his institution will open 22 other new medical and engineering laboratories in March, 2017 a move aimed at expanding KIU into a center of excellence for the globe.

"We (KIU) have partnered with the Nigerian Government and they will send a total of 107 senior academic staff including 22 professors, 32 associate professors and senior lecturers. The move is aimed at enhancing the human resource and excellence in the institution," he said.

At the same function, all graduands received their transcripts, a move aimed at allowing graduates to obtain jobs instantly.

Stella Marion Athieno, who graduated with a bachelor's degree in mass communication was ecstatic: "I applaud KIU for issuing transcripts and certificates, my employers wanted it and am ready to submit."
