The state minister for finance in charge of planning, David Bahati, has scoffed at the Opposition and civil society organisations who criticise the Government for being so indebted.

Bahati says Uganda's debt, which currently stands at 36% both domestic and foreign, is much lesser than China's at 120% yet their economy is much more developed than Uganda.

He adds the Government will continue to borrow money to put in place the necessary infrastructure, as long as the debts are properly managed.
