When the National Basketball League playoffs kicked off Friday night at YMCA, the A1 Challenge started as favorites against the Nkumba lady Marines in one of their best three quarter finals.

It is safe to assume that with the Uganda Clays' sponsorship this year, A1 have managed to put up a descent performance in the regular season, finishing fourth in the standings.

However, just like the previous seasons, it's unlikely that the 2005 Champions will make it past the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, in the men's category the dark horses, Ndejje University Angles will be trying out their luck  to make history at the expense of title contenders; Betway Power in one of the men's playoffs this season.

But, for the record coach Walker Obeddi's Ndejje has never won a game or made it to the playoffs but despite all that, they are positive for a change this season.

"We only lost a few games. That simply means we can make our way to the top," said Obeddi.

However, facing a strong team like Power who have made it to the NBL finals twice, FIBA Zone V Championships and five time League Champions, the University side may want to brace themselves for a tight contest if they are to get any positive results at the end of the day.
