“She has stood with me all through. Just when I thought she was just a teacher, she became a mother,” Mwebaze praised her teacher turned mentor
Victoria Mwebaze’s father died shortly before she sat her Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) at Bright School, Kawempe. With the combined support of the school’s director, Silvia Luwaga, and her family, she managed to go through secondary and until she finished university.
“She has stood with me all through. Just when I thought she was just a teacher, she became a mother,” Mwebaze praised her teacher turned mentor, Luwaga, during the school’s 26th anniversary celebration on Sunday.
Attributing her achievements to Luwaga, Mwebaze has started and manages two own companies, Victorian Decorators, a decoration company, and Healing Spa, a body therapy in Kololo.
Mwebaze’s assertions were validating the school head’s said ambition of nurturing a child beyond just classroom teaching. She was among the old students who gave testimonies of Luwaga’s mentoring ways.
The event, which was organized by the school’s old students, had prayer session for the pupils set to sit their primary school education. The mass was led by Ruth Birabwa from Christian life Church, Makerere Kavule.
In her sermon, she encouraged the candidates to be strong and let go of any panic. Birabwa urged pupils to keep their minds open to the fact that PLE is just part of a longer journey they are beginning to move.

“In any Journey, before you Jubilate, before you celebrate or invite friends and family to thank God, you have to take the first steps which involve endurance and suffering,” she said.
She also asked parents to personally pray for their children and continue dedicating them to God even in their absence.
She said although children need both the guidance of parents and the school, God’s guidance is ultimate. The celebrations was attended by parents, well-wishers and area leaders
