Six arrested over city lawyer's murder

Police is holding six people over the murder of Adam Mulongo, a city lawyer.

Mulongo, 37, a commercial lawyer with JABO & Company Advocates was killed on Sunday morning as he approached his home in Ntinda-Kigoowa, a Kampala suburb.

The assailants are reported to have hit his car window using boulders before pouncing on him.  The father of two later succumbed to injuries at a city hospital where he had been rushed.

According to Kampala metropolitan Police spokesperson Emillian Kayima the suspects were arrested during an operation carried on Monday.

"We had an operation in areas of Ntinda, Kigoowa, Kiwatule and Kisasi where we apprehended the suspects  involved in the crime", he said.

He added that they will hold an identification parade to screen the suspects because some of the deceased's neighbors saw the thugs as they fled the scene.

"We will also corroborate the vital evidence picked at the scene such the finger prints to see whether the tally with the suspects before arraigning them in court," he said.

Kayima declined to reveal the identities of the suspects not jeopardise with investigations.

Mulongo's death comes amid heightened cases of murder by unknown assailants in different parts of the country.
