The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has launched investigation to ascertain how some of the examination papers were leaked.

The secretariat, working with police, said on Thursday that it had already arrested some people suspected to be behind the leakage.

There are media reports that some of the examination papers were leaked. More so, messages with photographs of the leaked examination papers are already being circulated on social media.

UNEB said the claims are being investigated, and if true, to ascertain how this happed.

"We have received reports of alleged leakage of ongoing Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examination. The reports indicate that a few papers may have been seen by some candidates before the official time for opening question paper envelopes at sitting centres,"  UNEB statement stated.

"We are working with security agencies to establish the authenticity of the alleged examination papers that reportedly circulated on social media, and the source of those papers."

UNEB said the security agencies made some arrests and investigations are continuing."

Hamis Kaheru, the secretariat's publicist added: "These developments will not affect the timetable and the remaining papers will be conducted as scheduled."

"Area supervisors, heads of centre and other examination officials currently in the field should ensure that the exercise continues as planned," adds the statement.

UNEB appealed to the public to give information about any case of malpractice directly to the police and UNEB on the following lines: 0414-289397, 0414-286636, 0772-471766 and 0772-625154.
