Vipers' goalkeeper Watenga named star of the month

Vipers Sports Club goalkeeper Ismail Watenga has been voted the best player for the month of September during the club's monthly awards.

Watenga won the accolade after putting up a tremendous performance for his side last month that saw him keep four clean sheets against Bright Stars (0-0), BUL FC (1-0), SC Villa (1-0) and Masavu FC (2-0).

The national team player beat midfielder Tadeo Lwanga and striker Milton Karisa to win the monthly award.

"I can only thank my teammates and coaches that help me achieve this. I'm just preventing the balls from entering the net, and they are the ones that are helping me do it," said Watenga after receiving the award.

He added," Hopefully we go all the way. We finished third last season and we always want to improve and progress, and to do that we have to finish first."
