They will have highly qualified instructors from various disciplines to handle the children

The administration of Gayaza Junior School has assured parents whose children will attend this year's Girls' Sports Leadership Camp of their children's safety.

Joy Nabankema, the deputy head teacher in charge of academics made the assurance on Tuesday morning at the school campus during the launch of the second edition of the annual camp organized by the Uganda Women and Youth Foundation.

"We as Gayaza Junior School have 1000 pupils here and we have managed their health and safety year on year. We therefore assure you that 200 pupils will not give us any challenge," Nabankema stated.

The one-week residential camp due December 10-17 is supported by health services provider AAR, Uganda Rugby Union, FUFA, FUBA, Uganda Table Tennis Association, Uganda Woodball Federation, Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC), and Tartan Burner Athletics Club.

Phionah Nakatete of Uganda Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation said last year's event at St. Joseph Nsambya attracted 50 pupils and this year's camp will accommodate 200 pupils from primary one to seven.

She added that they will have highly qualified instructors from various disciplines to handle the children.

"We shall use highly qualified instructors and inspirational speakers in this year's camp and together with the Uganda Olympic Committee talent identification committee, these children will be followed to see that they perform," Nakatete said.
