A team of Police negotiators bargained with them until they agreed on a figure of sh80m.

"When the kidnappers came to receive the money, they were descended upon by plain clothed Police officers and arrested," ACP Herbert Muhangi, the Commander of the Flying Squad Unit of the Police, said.

The suspected kidnappers were identified as Reagan Kibuuka and Emmanuel Kiweewa, both residents of Lukaya in Masaka district. They are currently being detained at the Kampala Central Police Station investigations into the matter continue.

Cases of kidnap have become rampant, especially as unscrupulous people try to find ways of making money.
