Makerere topped Group A and qualified for the quarterfinals

Makerere University has been suspended from the University Football League by the tournament's disciplinary committee for the remainder of this season and the whole of next season over continued indiscipline by its fans.

This comes after the league game between Makerere and Busitema was called off after Makerere fans ran amok.

"The suspension comes after the disciplinary committee found Makerere University fans responsible for causing the Busitema University vs Makerere University match that was scheduled for Thursday 12th October 2017 to be called off after Makerere University fans attacked and provoked Busitema University fans prior to the kick-off of the game," read communication from the committee comprising of Bernard Bainamani, Davis Katabira and Haruna Kebba.

Makerere University which topped Group A thus qualifying for the quarterfinals, has been given 48 hours if they are to appeal the decision.
