Choosing the right career is among the most challenging decisions to make for most people, especially in this era of unemployment.

The beginning of a career needs to start in the lower classes, preferably O'level and emphasis should be put on the areas of study where one performs well.

Fagil Mandy, a renowned former educationist says teachers and parents should give students a chance to determine their future careers.

He said what students do in class sometimes determines their career path, hence a need for them to be serious in the areas they do well.

Mandy, who was last week speaking to students and teachers of Taibah International School in Bwebabajja off Entebbe Road in Kampala, said students need to embrace the Information and Communication Technology (ICT), but in the rightful manner to prepare themselves for the future .

"Although information technology is good, it has shortcomings when not properly used. You cannot spend six hours on WhatsApp or Twitter and hope to be successful," Mandy said.

He cautioned the students against laziness, corruption if they are to achieve success in their chosen careers. He said honesty would help them achieve success and a better live.
