Bayern Munich fans community in Uganda and Proline Soccer Academy have constructed a 24-hour football facility in Munyonyo which footballers, teams and fans can use for competitions, practice and enjoyment of the game.

The close to 400-sitter, over sh4bn seven-a-side, state of the art football facility neighbouring Speke Resort Munyonyo, is into its final stages of construction and will be open to the public on December 1st.

According to Proline managing director Mujib Kasule, on completion the multi-sports facility that will also have a tennis court and a fully functional gym, a sports shop, restaurant, terrace, lounge and changing rooms and will be open to the public.

"After office many people want to exercise and play football other than go to the gym to keep fit, but due to lack of such facilities many cannot, so we are putting up this facility to bridge the gap and to help the community have access; a facility that can allow people to play football on any time of the day," Kasule explained.

"It is ideally a seven-a-side pitch but depending on the fitness levels of the players it can even accommodate ten-a-side game because it is big enough. Even those want to play tennis, the court will be opening all-day," Kasule said.

He said the facility will be open during next year's World Cup to show all matches on giant screens and most especially for the Bayern fans. He also explained that the facility will also host the Proline Academy for players that reside in Ggaba and around that area but it will also be the home of the Bayern FC-Uganda fans.

President of the Bayern fans in Uganda, Honest Kavuma, said that it was because of their love for football that they decided to invest in the artificial pitch.

"All my life has been about football and I love the game. I want people to have a feel of an international football pitch. So this is a pitch with floodlights, artificial turf and it matches international standards and it has been set up to boost Ugandan football and we would like people to enjoy the sport they so much love,"

"In future we want to establish an even bigger football facility that can host FIFA matches and that is our vision after completing this," Kavuma stated.

He said the pitch will officially be commissioned by a prominent person from Germany when it is ready.
