The State Minister for Health, Sarah Opendi, has warned doctors in public hospitals against neglecting their duties.

Last month, the minister disguised herself as a patient and arrested a medical officer at Naguru Hospital, who demanded for a bribe before treating her.

Opendi, while speaking at a function to celebrate Laboratory Day at the Ministry of Health offices, said medical officers who solicit money from patients will not be tolerated because they deny the less privileged access to health services.

At the same function, Opendi revealed that they are in the final stages of tabling the Laboratory Bill to enact a law that will regulate laboratories, so as to get rid of cases of wrong tests, which currently stand at 50%.
