Couples will have the chance to meet Pope Francis's representative, Fernando Cardinal Filoni, at Sacred Heart of Mary Cathedral in Lubaga, Kampala, on October 28.

The cardinal, a prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples in the Roman Curia in Rome, will arrive in the country on October 26.

He will be in the county to represent Pope Francis as Kampala Archdiocese marks 50 years of existence.

Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese, Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, announced that Cardinal Fernando would be the main celebrant to climax with festivities at Uganda Martyrs Shrine Namugongo under the theme: "Remember, Rejoice and Renew."

During a marriage couples pilgrimage to the cathedral, the head of couples in Kampala, Augustine Ssekibuule, reminded the over 400 couples present, who got married at the cathedral and the Archdiocese over the years, to turn up in large numbers.

Msgr Kasibante said the World Meeting of Families reflected on the faith experience of families from many parts of the world as well as on the challenges and celebration, which characterise the ups and downs of day-to-day family life.
