One killed and scores injured in Lira accident

Lira Police attributed the cause of the accident to careless driving, over speeding and overloading.

ACCIDENT | LIRA


One person was killed and several others sustained injuries when a lorry carrying traders overturned yesterday morning in Lira district.

The market traders from Lira town were going to Otwal market in Oyam district when the lorry Fuso number UAQ 428L, in which they were traveling in, overturned at Aromo sub-county  in Lira.

Over 25 people who were injured were rushed to Lira Regional Referral hospital for medical attention.

The officer in charge of traffic at Lira Central Police Station, Muhamed Bigirwa, attributed the cause of the accident to careless driving, over speeding and overloading.

The LC3 chairperson of Aromo sub-county said the road is narrow. He said the scene where the accident occurred is prone to accidents.
