Police officers should brace themselves for tough times as their salaries for September will delay due to technical challenges at the public service ministry.

According to a circular issued by the Uganda Police Force undersecretary, Rogers Muhirwa, the officers' salaries are unlikely to be paid by September 28 (today) as has been the practice.

"As you are aware, it is public service policy to pay salaries and pensions by day 28 of every month. However, due to technical challenges at the public service ministry, the processing of payroll for September has delayed," Muhirwa wrote.

He added; "The purpose of this circular is to inform you that payment of salaries and pension for September 2017 may delay up to early next week."

Muhirwa, also asked all directors and unit heads to inform the officers to be "frugal in spending the available resources."

The circular dated September 27, was also copied to the Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura, and his deputy, Martin Okoth Ochola.
