Police in Iganga has launched investigations into the gruesome murder of an unidentified woman whose body was discovered on Wednesday dumped in a drainage channel adjacent to Nakavule Primary School in Iganga district.

The unidentified naked body of the woman probably in her early 20s was discovered lying in the drainage channel by pupils of Nakavule priamary school at around 11.30am who later alerted the area LC one chairman, Eriabu Mawazi.

The pupils who had reportedly been chased from school to collect their school fees had gone to the channel to clean their feet.

One of the locals, Meddy Kasambi said he saw a saloon car parked at the scene with dim lights at around 12.30am on Wednesday.

Kasambi said he suspects the occupants of the saloon vehicle could have dumped the body there after murdering her from elsewhere.

The LC one chairman, Mawazi concurred with Kasambi that the deceased could have first been murdered from elsewhere before being dumped in the area by some unknown people.

The body had a deep wound on the neck and a rope in the neck arousing suspicion that the deceased could have been murdered by strangling with the rope.

The deceased is also suspected to have first been gang raped before being murdered.

Police arrived at the scene almost 30 minutes later with a sniffer dog which directed them to the nearby home of one of the renowned doctors in Iganga, Bryan Lufaafa of Imaging center clinic in Nakavule.

The regional police commander Busoga east, Ibrahim Saiga led a search of the home for over two hours but declining to give any comment about their finding to the media.
