Refugee names go missing from food distribution list at Bidibidi

YUMBE - Several refugees have complained that their names have gone missing from the food distribution list, forcing them to share with neighbours.

They voiced the concern on Sunday during a visit to the settlement by Japanese donors. The Japanese partners, led by Atsuyoshi Saka, donated five tonnes of beans, 10 tonnes of posho, 20 boxes of exercise books, two boxes of pens, and two boxes of de-worming drugs.

"The missing names ares concern we raised to the Office of the Prime Minister, but the issue is yet to be addressed," said Moses Lubanga, the chairperson of cluster two in Bidibidi settlement.

He blamed the challenge on the recently introduced bio metric registration system at the camp.

Lubanga said in his village alone, 103 people missed food because their names were missing from the distribution list.

Hakim Joseph Nelson, the chairman of Village Four at the settlement, said officials from OPM have started identifying people whose names are missing from the food distribution list.
