The state minister for Karamoja, Moses Kizige, has said he has received death threats from some unknown people accusing him and other Members of Parliament hailing from Busoga region of supporting the proposed Bill to uplift the presidential age-limit.

Speaking during a fundraising drive to complete the office block for Central Busoga Diocese headquarters held at St James Church in Bulamagi sub-county, Iganga district yesterday, Kizige said he has on several occasions received threatening messages on his mobile phone and on social media.

"These people always send me threatening messages, but I am not bothered because I am here to do my work," he said.

Kizige also said the youth have on several occasions attempted to embarrass him during public functions over the same issue, yet he is an honorable Member of Parliament.

He instead urged the youth to embrace government programmes such as Operation Wealth Creation to be able to uplift their house-hold incomes, instead of wasting time discussing politics.

He said the proposed age-limit removal Bill will only be approved by Parliament after MPs have sought views from their voters.

"There is no need to panic about the Bill because you the people will be the ones to decide its fate," he said

A total of sh45m was raised during the fundraising.
