National motocross championship Maxime Van Pee will undergo surgery to fix his left knee after an injury he suffered last month in Botswana, during the FIM Africa Nations motocross championship.

"I'm very disappointed to sit out of action and just watch my championships being taken away without being able to fight back, but I will be back for them," he stated.

Maxime, who is the Nile Special USPA motocross rider of the year 2016, will be out of action for six month after the knee surgery, which means he will not be able to defend his FIM Central Africa Motocross Championship MX1 title and the national Enduro championship.

Maxime tore his interior Cruciate Ligament and medial Meniscus.

Maxime leads the National motocross championship with 277 points, 104points ahead of second place Asaf Natan (173pts).
