Palisa, Butebo elections postponed

Karoli said the elections will not be conducted until the issue of the boundary marks between Palisa and the new Butebo districts is sorted out.

Kitale Karoli, the Palisa district NRM registrar who doubles as the acting administrative secretary for Palisa and Butebo districts has confirmed that Palisa district Woman MP and Butebo district LC5 chairperson elections have been postponed.

 

Karoli said the elections will not be conducted until the boundary marks between Palisa and the new Butebo districts is sorted out.

 

While speaking to the press, Karoli also said whereas other newly created districts like Namisindwa and Kyotera are expected to conduct elections on September 21. 2017, Butebo district will not conduct its elections because of the disagreement.

 

According to him, there are disagreements because the leaders of Kibale and Opwateta sub counties which form Kibale constituency have refused to join the newly created Butebo district.

 

He however, said that the issues of two sub counties have been forwarded to parliament for discussion.

 

Karoli calls on those vying for various political posts in the two districts to be patient until open campaigns are declared.
