Despite an underwhelming start to the new Uganda Premier League season, new Express coach Douglas Bamweyana is confident that his side has a chance of winning the title.
The Red Eagles commenced their new campaign with a goalless draw with Kirinya Jinja SS before being beaten by Mbarara City 1-0 at Kakyeka Stadium.
“This season we want to do as well as we can. But as the technical team we are very optimistic that we can win the league. We might have started badly but the league is a marathon not a sprint. Starting with our next game you are going to see the quality we want in Express,” stated Bamweyana who is embarking on another stint with Express.
Previously he worked with Alex Gitta and Wasswa Bbosa at Express last season.
“I want our fans to expect a certain level of quality that they may not be used to. We want to be professional in everything. Express is now a changed club. We have a new mode,” added Bamweyana
Bamweyana replaced Matia Lule who resigned weeks ago from the club that finished sixth last season.
