The Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda, Archbishop Michael August Blume, has commended the alumni of Mount St Mary's College, Namagunga, for their significant contribution to the development of the country.

Delivering his homily during the school's platinum jubilee celebrations at the school (in Buikwe district) on Saturday, the Nuncio also praised Mother Mary Kevin, the founder of the school, for her deep faith and commitment to the education of the vulnerable girl-child.

"We thank God for the gift of this great school and those that founded it. We also thank God for the many alumni of this school, who have contributed enormously to the development of society."

"As Christians, we have a responsibility to put our knowledge and talents to proper use. The alumni of this great institution are also expected to use the knowledge they received here to serve the people, especially the poor, the marginalised and those that have been forced to leave their homes."
