Male says having a good compound is as important as having a good interior.

Art pieces enhance the beauty of the home

A home can be boring or interesting depending on how you plan and structure it. Placing artistic pieces in the compound tremendously enhances elegance.

Richard Male, an artist based at Wandegeya, says many people overlook the last stage of building; which is adding flavour to the home.

Male says upon completion of building, beauty in a home can be enhanced by creating patterns in the compound.

Male says the first impression is important since a good exterior is what meets the eye first. "Many people mould natural artistic pieces. All artists have a specific genre of specialty," he says.

Agnes Nabisubi, who has one in her compound says her piece is a beautiful-looking zebra. She says the piece cost over sh800,000.

Male says he spends about sh350,000 on cement and iron bars. It is from the iron bars that he makes the zebra sketches. He then uses the cement to build the piece. After building, he applies the beautiful colours of the zebra.

"The piece should not be simply placed anywhere. Preferably, it should be complimented by a patterned exterior", says Male.

Male says the basics of compound designing revolve around the organised pattern of existing vegetation. The patterns, according to Male, can be blended with appropriate colours to add effect on the exterior design.

Male says having a good compound is as important as having a good interior.
