BUL and Mbarara played out a goalless draw

For the seventh successive season in the top flight football, BUL FC failed to win the opening fixture of the league.

BUL coach Kefa Kisala was yet again left frustrated as his side squandered various goalscoring opportunities in Tuesday's scoreless draw against newcomers Mbarara City.

The visitors' resilient backline was expertly marshalled by former BUL FC defenders Asuman Alishe and Yeseeri Waibi as strikers Shaka Ssozi and new recruits Richard Wandyaka, Mike Ndera and Yunus Sibira were all guilty of missing opportunities in both halves.

"We did not play well enough to deserve three points, much so the missed opportunities in the first half because we did not have someone cool enough to put the ball in the net. We are now waiting for ITC clearance for our lead striker Congolese import John Mwindo," said Kisala.

Mbarara had second half substitute Siragi Musindo and Brian Ahebwa keep the home side's defence occupied especially on the break and BUL's custodian Hannington Ssebwalunyo was always equal to the task.

"We were poor in first half because they dominated us but when I made two substitutions , everything changed in our favour in second half but we too don't have a good lead striker who could give us an edge today" said Mbarara tactician Viali Bainomugisha
