Out-going Sudan envoy to Uganda, Ambassador Hamad Abdelbagi Kabeir has described Uganda's relations with Sudan as good, saying President Yoweri Museveni's historic visit to Sudan in October last year, was significant.

According to a statement issued by Margaret Awino Kafeero, the head of public diplomacy in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Museveni's visit to Khartoum, where he held bilateral talks with Sudan's President Omar-Bashir, was the highlight of his two-year tenure in Kampala.

"The outgoing Ambassador also commended the good working relations with the Government of Uganda and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in particular, throughout his tenure of service, the highlight of which of which saw a historic visit of H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to the Republic of Sudan after a period of almost two decades," the statement noted.

Kabeir this week bids farewell to Uganda. He was posted as envoy in March 2015.

Sam Kutesa, the minister of foreign affairs said Kabeir significantly contributed to the now good working relations between Uganda and Sudan.  Kutesa singled out the mutual interest of regional stability that Uganda and Sudan have under the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
