Holders Mukono Parents suffered a rocky start to their campaign following a 5 wicket loss to western Uganda giants Nyakasura School Sunday at the Kings College Budo oval.

Not quite the result they expected but a massive blow to their charges as this year's  UCA Boys Schools Cricket Week started at five playing venues; Budo grass, Budo Astra, Lugogo, Ndejje and Gayaza.

Henry Karshanda and Ashraf  Nduga had set the tone fairly high, scoring 23 and 20 runs not out on the way to a 110 innings after Nyakasura opted to bowl under a cool breeze at the Budo Astra.

However, Pascal Murungi's undefeated near half ton of 48 from 30 balls not out, offered a solid ground as Nyakasura chased the game and still Patrick Businge's nonetheless scores of 20 from 12 balls proved vital despite Cosmas Kyewuta picking 2 wickets for Mukono Parents.

Earlier, Isaac Ategeka's 2 wickets made the difference for the Western Uganda outfit, Mukono losing seven batsmen for Nyakasura to eventually win by 5 wickets.

Elsewhere, strong contenders Jinja SS came up big against Masaka SS at Lugogo oval by 9 wickets courtesy of Ken Lukwita's 3 wickets and Perry Wazombe's half century of 58 from 39 balls not out. Agha Khan and Kyambogo College saw their game washed out at the Ndejje oval

The week long action continues today with  some of the fixtures including Mukono playing Rwanda Select at Lugogo oval, Nyakasura and St James battle at Kyambogo, Olila face Agah Khan at Budo Astra, Mwiri entertain Kyambogo College at Budo Grass, Kololo SS play Ndejje SS at Gayaza with Ndejje playing home against St James
