"Her naked body had no eyes, her left breast seemed to have been cut off, a stick stuffed into her mouth and another one pushed into her private parts,"
Sombre mood engulfed residents of Katabi town council in yet another heart striking murder incident when a 35-year-old Sarah Nakajo Nakintu was brutally murdered and her naked body dumped in a nearby bush, a few metres away from Kasenyi landing site and Wagagai flower farm.
"She left home on Wednesday morning to go and collect local herbs for her child who was suffering from a terrible cough, and that's the last I saw of her," narrated Aisha Nakibirango, the closest neighbour to the deceased.
Zidah Nabuuma, the landlady of late Nakintu said she filed a case of a missing person at police after being notified that her tenant was missing.
"We got a small notebook from her room which had phone contacts. It's from there that we managed to call her relatives and we all embarked on a long search," said Nabuuma.
Nakintu's body was later discovered by her brother Abdumajiduh Kintu. "Her naked body had no eyes, her left breast seemed to have been cut off, a stick stuffed into her mouth and another one pushed into her private parts," said Kintu.
Police arrested Godfrey Mayanja, an ex-boyfriend to the deceased with whom they had a seven months-old son, and a witch doctor identified as Salongo John Bwanika.
Entebbe Police OCIID, Zacharia Mbabazi confirmed the gruesome manner in which Nakintu was murdered, describing it as a very shocking incident.
"Even though we have some suspects in police custody, I honestly feel withered when a life I’m supposed to protect is rather taken," said Mbabazi.
Nakintu left behind five children. She is the sixth woman to be murdered in a similar manner or even worse in a space of less than three months.
Police is yet to release a report on these murder incidences. However, some residents blamed these murders on the influx of witch doctors in the area.
