Two time defending champions Jinja SS will fancy their chances of claiming a record third title as the Mehta Premier League hits the business end Saturday at the Kyambogo oval.

The Jinja outfit is well documented in the shorter version of the game with successes elsewhere in the Sixes Challenge and the UCA Girls Schools Cricket Week.

Following a rather slow start to this year's Mehta T20 contest, Habibu Mugalu's side grew sturdier as the tournament progressed finishing second on 179 points, six wins out of ten games.

Their abilities will again be put to test against a hungry for success Wanderers who turned the tables around to qualify for the semifinals in their last double fixture against KICC last Saturday.

"We have picked a lot of confidence after the dramatic qualification for the semis and we surely have our sigths set on the trophy" said Janat Mbabazi, captain of Wanderers who have won this trophy once in 2013.

Meanwhile, Olila high School are looking to disrupt the established order in the top flight but then winning the trophy at the first time of asking perhaps comes at a big cost and Pioneer is no small hurdle for Ivan Kakande's side.

When the two sides met in the preliminary round, it was a story of shared spoils as each team won one game in the two-game fixture. The presence of Gertrude Chandiru and batting all-rounder Rachael Ntono has given the Soroti outfit the much needed edge in their maiden topflight season.

Pioneer are yet to win the tournament that started in 2011. The usually annual contest returned this season following a one year hiatus because of the International Women's T20 Cup 2016 in  the UAE where the National Women's side participated.

Well it remains to be seen  who will be the last man standing as the curtains finally fall on the T20 showpiece and then the attention will focus on the upcoming  Division One National Women's League!
