Lands minister meets opposition over land

Government has requested residents in the area to leave to pave way for the investor and has pledged to compensate them but local leaders led by MP Gilbert Olanya, woman MP Lucy Aciro and LC5 chairman Michael Lakony are opposing the deal.

Residents in Payot village, Amuru Sub-county in Amuru district objected to a decision to have part of the land in the district for sugar cane growing. The Government wants to open boundaries for the 10,000 hectares for Amuru Sugar Works of Madhivan.
