Although most people use blinds in office, the trend has changed. They are slowly finding themselves in homes.

Blinds are made of slats or boards, held together vertically or horizontally by strings. They come in several designs, textures, styles and colours.

There are many types of blinds available in Uganda for a customer to pick from.

Moses Lumala of Citie Homes says there are many types and customers can pick for specific rooms, such as the living room, bedroom or children's room.

Most people, when decorating their homes, always ensure that the living room is the most welcoming room in the house. It is therefore important to pick appealing colours for the living room.

"If you want to make a proclamation in your living room, go for blinds with bold floral patterns to act as your centre piece," Lumala says.

Robert Nsubuga, a designer, Kawa Interiors says some blinds are automated and can be scheduled to open or close whenever one wants.

Judith Kamukama, a resident of Kansanga, says blinds are easy to maintain because they are easy to clean and maintain. She says she cleans them only once a year.

Joseph Mukiibi, a home designer, says the cost of the binds depends on the fabric one uses. He says they range between sh250,000 to 500,000 per window.

Mukiibi says white colour is good, but easily gathers dust and may not be maintained well, while dark colours may work well for children's bedrooms
