Despite winning only a game in the just concluded Africa zone V qualifiers in Nairobi Kenya, Uganda women national team coach Johnson Kewenyera is a contented man.

In an interview after the regional event, Kawenyera said that he was happy the team had achieved its target of winning at least a
game in the event.

"I am happy that what we set out to achieve is what we got. We exposed the young players to the international stage and also won a match against Rwanda," Kawenyera said.

Uganda lost their first two matches to eventual champions Kenya and runners up Egypt in straight sets but recovered to
pip Rwanda 3-2.

Just like the men, Uganda national volleyball team missed qualifying for the Africa Championships later this month after both teams finished fourth in their respective qualifiers.

The men competed in Rwanda and the Africa Championship will be in Egypt while the women qualifier was in Kenya although continental event is expected in Cameroon this Augusts.
