Kamuda Sub County registered over 30 thefts of cattle and chicken last month

The leadership of Kamuda Sub County in Soroti district has set up village patrol committees to help curb alarming theft.

Daniel Eigu, the LC3 chairperson said each village has instituted twenty energetic volunteers to help patrol and inform security officers of any criminals in the areas.

He said the major thefts registered in the area are of domestic animals and food items among others.

Eigu encouraged locals to work together with the volunteers to be able to register success in reducing thefts in the area.

Samuel Okaje, the chairperson of general purpose committee in the sub county blamed the increasing thefts to establishment of trading centres in the area.

He pledged to engage parents in restraining the movement of their children at night.
