As soon as the donor is confirmed, Lugonvu will need to be flown to India for surgery.

Abdul Rahim Lugonvu, 4, was born with sickle cell disease, which can only be cured through a bone marrow transplant. He needs U$ 33,000(sh118m) to undergo urgent bone morrow transplant in India.

However, his peasant parents from Luweero district cannot afford to raise this kind of money on their own. They are looking for good Samaritans to help them save the life of their second born child.

Sickle Cell disease (SCD) is described as a group of inherited red blood cell disorders. People with SCD have abnormal haemoglobin, called haemoglobin S or sickle haemoglobin, in their red blood cells.  Haemoglobin is a protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen throughout the body.

Isaac Okello, the director of Raising Hope International, the organization helping the family in the campaign drive says Lugonvu's mother and sibling are undergoing screening to get him a donor.

As soon as the donor is confirmed, Lugonvu will need to be flown to India for surgery.

Okello says because of the disease, Lugonvu is always anaemic, very weak, with persistent cough, with joint pains

Good Samaritans can reach Lugonvu's mother (Aisha Bisirikirwa) on her mobile number-0704803689 as she has no account number.
