Police in Pallisa district in conjunction with UMEME officials have intensified operations to crackdown on people involved in illegal power tapping.

This is in response to the increasing acts of illegal power thefts in the district.

Mathias Turyasingura the District Police Commander said this has led to loss of lives citing a recent incident where a one-year-old child was electrocuted in Pallisa Industrial Park.

According to Turyasingura, six people have so far been arrested in the operation that commenced last week.

"The suspects will soon be arraigned in court to answer charges of power theft", he said without revealing their particulars.

He therefore cautioned the public to be vigilant and report any cases of illegal power connections to relevant authorities for action to be taken.
