KAMPALA - A section of women legislators have opposed remarks made by the minister of state for youth Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, where she attributes child neglect cases in the country to failure of women to respect their husbands.

Nakiwala was presenting her views on the ongoing debate in parliament on a motion for a resolution of parliament urging government to expedite the implementation of all policies and legislation relating to children.

However, the MPs were not impressed by her comment and asked the speaker, Rebecca Kadaga, to let her withdraw the statement.

The female MPs continued to challenge Nakiwala's remarks which prompted the minister of state for housing Chris Baryomunsi to inform parliament that a study done at Makerere Institute of Public Health indicated that the behaviour of women has pushed married men into adultery.
