Extension workers play a pivotal role in the community
Government has been tasked to recruit more extension workers in lower local government administrative units.
Betty Rose Aguti the Caritas Uganda policy and advisory specialist said recruiting more extension workers will ease service delivery to the local farmers.
She added that the few that are available are overwhelmed with work, something that requires more extension workers to be recruited.
"If government undermines recruiting more extension workers, the local people will not get efficient service delivery" Aguti stated.
Moses Ecuru the deputy Soroti Municipality Mayor said extension workers play a pivotal role in the community.
He added that local governments need support from the central government to effectively perform their duties by first recruiting extension workers.
