Katakwi farmers warned against premature crop harvesting

Farmers in Katakwi district have been warned against untimely harvesting of crops. This follows rampant premature harvesting of crops in the district brought about by food crisis pressure faced by many families. Vincent Ongom, Katakwi district production officer, said premature harvesting of crops compromises the quality of crop harvest which faces a setback in the market as well as affecting seed quality which may affect germination. Ongom explained that crops mature in a period of 90-120 days which farmers to be able to get quality yield. George Osege, the Katakwi district agricultural officer urged farmers to abide by the expertise advice to be able to accrue more crop farming.
