Cases of child sacrifice are rampant in the country

Mukono Diocese has launched a campaign against child sacrifice and other forms of violations committed against children.

The campaign code named ‘The Diocesan Star' was launched in Namagabi Parish, Kayunga district and the clergy together with members of the community cleaned Kayunga Central Market.

The youth coordinator in Mukono diocese, Rev. William Konde, said the campaign involves sensitizing parents about proper upbringing of children and how best they can guard them against human rights violations like child sacrifice, defilement and child labour among others.

Konde said that cases of child sacrifice are rampant in the country and this prompted the church to come up with such a campaign to shed light on how parents can save children from such practices.

"We remind everybody that without children the country has no future because they are the future politicians, clergy, doctors, teachers therefore it is everyone's role to safeguard them and ensure they are given whatever they need to live a happy life," Konde said.

He said that the campaign would go to districts of Mukono, Buikwe and Buvuma.
