St Peter's PS, Nsambya Marks 110 years

Delivering his homily during the thanksgiving mass, Bishop Baharagate paid tribute to the late Bishop Henry Hanlon, a Prelate of the Missionary Society of St Joseph (also called Mill Hill Missionary Society), who founded the school in 1907.

Saint Peter's Primary School, Nsambya, one of the oldest Catholic Schools in Uganda, has marked 110 years of its inception. The celebrations took place at the school's sports grounds (at Nsambya), on Friday. They were presided over by the Bishop Emeritus of Hoima, the Rt Rev Bishop Edward Albert Baharagate.

Delivering his homily during the thanksgiving mass, Bishop Baharagate paid tribute to the late Bishop Henry Hanlon, a Prelate of the Missionary Society of St Joseph (also called Mill Hill Missionary Society), who founded the school in 1907.

Baharagate, who also confirmed over 150 pupils into the Catholic faith, asked the alumni, students, parents, friends and teachers of then school to be committed the values of the Christian faith. He also asked them to emulate the leadership qualities of St Peter, the patron saint of the school.

The head teacher of the school, Francis Ssenabulya, thanked all those that had contributed to the growth of the school. He said that the school, which started with only 40 students, now had over 3216 students. 

He further revealed that the school had groomed many influential citizens, who include the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Dr Louis Kasekende.

During the same function, the school also commemorated its Patron Saint, St Peter the Apostle.
