New court martial members sworn in

According to the court Martial secretary, Maj. John Bizimana, the president renewed the term for the court members on June 9, 2017 and made a few changes in the panel.

Sixteen members of the General court Martial, who were recently appointed by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, have been sworn in by Lt.Col. Gideon Katinda, the Judge’s Advocate to head the army court.

Sixteen members including Lt.Gen.Andrew Gutti, the army court chairman maintained their positions, while eight new members were brought on board. The swearing in of the officers took place today at the GCM, based in the city suburbs of Makindye.

This, therefore, means that the court will resume its work, after a two weeks’ vacation.

Under the provisions of the military court, the term for the members lasts for a year and has to be renewed by the president.

After the ceremony which was conducted inside the court room, court resumed work immediately.

The members include Lt Gen.Andrew Gutti chairman, Lt. Col. Gideon Katinda, Maj. Sarah Navuga, Capt. Alex Arthur Muhwezi, Capt. Wilfred Nyero, Capt. Annet Nekesa, Sgt Muzoora Benson, Maj. Emmanuel Rubyakana and Maj. Fredrick Tamale Lwanga.

Others are Maj. James Ali, Maj. Oliver Mutegeki, Capt. James Chemondos, Lt. Allen Nalubega, WO 1- Omara Jimmy, Lt. Col. Benson Timu, John B. Mulindwa and Capt Angela Laker
