Two held over aggravated defilement

The two will appear before the courts of law to answer the charges against them.

Police in Kabale district have two people in custody over alleged aggravated defilement.

According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi Police spokesperson, the suspects are Snaz Ahumuza and Robert Ngabirano.

Ahumuza is a resident Rwagara Kamatojo cell in Mwanjari ward, Kabale Municipality. He allegedly had carnal knowledge with a five-year-old girl of the same address.

Maate said the incident happened on June 18 when the girl had been sent to pick empty soda bottles from the suspect's residence.

"It's the mother who discovered her funny movements after some days and took her to Rushoroza Health Center where it was revealed that the girl been defiled.

"We then arrested the suspect and charged him accordingly."

Maate said that on the same day, Ngabirano, a resident of Nyakatete cell, Kicumbi parish Kamuganguzi sub-county is alleged to have defiled a seven-year-old girl at his house.

He said the suspect allegedly seduced the girl with sh2, 000 and was later caught red-handed in the act by the area locals who took him to Police.

The two will appear before the courts of law to answer the charges against them.

Meanwhile still from Kigezi, Police in Rubanda district saved a thief from being lynched by locals who suspected him of stealing a goat.

This took place in Kitumbezi cell, Bubare sub-county.

Maate said the suspect, named Alex Ahimbisibwe, reportedly stole Basaija's goat from his home. He is said to have been found trying to sell off the goat at Karukara market.

"The suspect was rushed to Kabale referral hospital where is admitted and inquiries continue. People must desist from taking the law into their hands.

"If there's any issue, they should utilize the village leadership as well as Police to help them," said the police spokesperson.
