MEHTA T20 TOURNAMENT

Saturday results

Olila 78/8 Pioneer 94/4 (Pioneer win by 16 runs)

Olila 96/1 Pioneer 93/5 (Olila win by 9 wickets)

KAMPALA - Another mixed result in the ongoing Mehta T20 Cup as Pioneer and Olila claimed one game apiece in the two-game fixture Saturday at Kyambogo.

Unlike in the previous edition, this year's tournament has offered low key engagements thus far.

Interestingly though Flavia Wanyana marked her return for Pioneer in somewhat heroic fashion  after spending over two years in Nigeria for her studies.

Wanyana put up a man of the match performance, powering Barbra Mukankusi and co to a 16-run victory against Soroti-based Olila in game one. She claimed 3/19 in 4 overs.

Carol Namugenyi had 2/8 in 8 overs during the second innings.

Kenyan Abel Queentor and Pricco Nakitende had earlier struck 24 off 26 balls and 19 not out off 28 balls respectively in the first innings where Olila decided to bowl, having won the toss.

However in game two, Abel Queentor's near half ton of 45 was not enough to secure their second victory as Rachael Ntono's stifling performance made all the difference for Pioneer, excelling with bat and ball (2/7 in 4 overs and 37 not out from 39 balls) ensuring that Olila bounced back to win by 9 wickets.

In the Women's National League, there was nothing to write home after Nile's no-show at Budo Oval ensured a Tornado walkover.
