Subjects were warned against ill minded people who are circulating wrong messages about the leadership in Mengo
The money was handed over to the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga during an event called (Luwalo) which took place today in Bulange Mengo, the kingdom headquarters.
The event which took place on Tuesday has happened for many years, where on an annual basis, people in Buganda within their counties voluntarily collect money, food and other things that can be taken to the kingdom treasury and used for development.
During this, three sub counties of Bulemeezi County; Baamunanika, Ssabawaali Kalagala and Wabusaana presented a package of sh3,164,000 plus other things like food, then the two sub counties of Buddu County presented a package of sh3,255,000 and food while Busujju County presented a package of half a million shillings.
This money goes to the Buganda treasury called Majestic Brands, where the kingdom's ministry of local government gets money to cater for service delivery in the counties.
During the event, Mayiga was represented by the Buganda minister for Finance Richard Mulema Mukasa who urged people in Buganda to continue contributing voluntarily to the kingdom so that it may serve them while supplementing to the services offered by the central government.
At the same occasion, the Buganda minister of state for local government, Joseph Kawuki, warned Kabaka's subjects against ill minded people who are circulating wrong messages about the leadership in Mengo.
He said that those are wrong people who want Buganda to collapse and well-wishers should shun them.
